The Tolerance Fund

The Tolerance Fund

This fund is designated to provide for the implementation of programs or projects by organizations or groups that would, directly or indirectly, affect positively the physical, psychological, intellectual, or spiritual well being of a member or members of any disenfranchised or marginalized group of people in the Oxford community. In particular the intent of this fund is to support projects or programs that are designed to reduce intolerance, bigotry, conflict, or other deleterious social, cultural, or political conditions. The fund should also provide support for programs, ideas, and projects that promote respect for, and a greater understanding of the commonality of, the entire human race. The fund may also promote endeavors which are designed to educate community members of all ages, regarding the rich cultural heritage that is part of Oxford's history, in particular the Appalachian and African-American cultural contributions, to promote programs which identify the origins, causes, and preventive measures of psychological and physical violence, and that promote understanding of and respect for the natural differences in people based on age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social and economic backgrounds, and educational goals, and that promote respect for persons with physical and/or mental impairments.
