Robert F. Southard Memorial Scholarship

This restricted scholarship was established in 2014 by the Southard family in memory of Robert F. Southard.  This scholarship is awarded to a Talawanda graduating High School student intent on pursuing a liberal arts education in the humanities, social sciences, history, literature, languages, art, music, or theater, in order to make a contribution to the betterment of society and culture. The student should show an appreciation for the core values of liberal education, extracurricular activities beyond the classroom and community involvement, and demonstrated financial need including part-time work history.

CRITERIA: Graduating Talawanda High School student who is a resident of Oxford or Oxford township and who is planning to pursue a liberal arts education.


BASIS FOR AWARD:

- Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

- Must be enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year private or public college or university.

- Demonstrated financial need.


REQUIRED: Two letters of recommendation from instructors that include evidence of academic achievement and promise, completion of coursework, and commitment to the value of a liberal arts education.
