This scholarship is given in memory of Jean Marks, who taught physical education between 1958-1991 at Talawanda High, Stewart Junior High and Talawanda Middle Schools.  Jean coached basketball, volleyball, field hockey, softball and track and was instrumental in overseeing intramural and athletic club activities.  She was an inaugural member of the Talawanda H.S. Athletic Hall of Fame and a member of the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame.  Jean taught and coached thousands of students over the years, and while she was competitive, the traits that mattered the most to her were sportsmanship, teamwork, positive attitude, and respect for the game.

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating Talawanda High School student who has demonstrated these qualities while a member of a school or club athletic team.  Preference is for a female athlete.
